About the NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a federal government initiative to provide funds to support those with disabilities. The NDIS has an annual budget of $14.5 billion dollars and securing adequate housing for people with disabilities is a key part of their mission.
Landlords have an essential part to play in providing adequate rental housing to people with disabilities. In return, they get a strong yield.
Affinity Involvement with NDIS Participants
Affinity Property Australia works together with NDIS Providers such as All Care Support Services to provide quality housing to people with disabilities. We have specialised property management agreements with clients, and a specialised subletting agreement with NDIS Providers. This means that the Provider selects clients that are funded under the NDIS scheme to live in the properties, often under a rooming agreement. So you, the landlord, do not rent directly to the tenant, you rent to the NDIS support organisation.
The NDIS participants who would live in your property are capable of living relatively independently. This housing arrangement is known as Supported Independent Living (SIL).
Your rental property must meet certain conditions to be eligible, and will be arranged to support the tenant’s needs. Any landlord can have their property considered for NDIS, but it must be approved by the NDIS Provider. Affinity Property can help you with this process.
